Either way, you'll learn the basic terms and methods that are the foundation of most dishes, so you'll be able to tackle any recipe that comes your way.

If you’d like a more social learning experience, check out some cooking classes. You can try a hands-on or demonstration class to learn new cooking techniques in person.

Lifehack proves that it's also easy to find kitchen cheat sheets for hints that you'll use again and again, from measurement conversions to substitutions you can make when you're out of an ingredient. Screenshot your favorites and save them on your phone, or print them out to keep them handy on your refrigerator.

Once you start searching, you'll likely find recipe sites that you keep coming back to, and it's easy to do a deep dive into inspiring new ideas and foodie tips on your phone or tablet while you're in the kitchen. Look for healthy meals, which are more convenient to prepare if you work from home. Your home office is likely relatively near the kitchen, which allows you to fix and consume nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day, food that helps improve your focus and performance.

They'll appreciate the compliment and just might give you some tips!

For added creaminess and a lovely presentation, we swirled this vibrantly colored beet soup with sour cream. Even w ithout the additional decoration, the bright and vibrant color of this soup will make a dinner table show-stopper. Edamame Hummus Recipe - Gluten Free and Dairy Free

Ingredients 1/2 pound frozen shelled edamame (green soy beans), about 1 1/2 cups 1/2 cup tahini 1/4-1/2 cup fresh lemon juice 3 tablespoons freshly grated lemon zest 2 cloves garlic, smashed 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander 5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley Boil the beans in salted water for 4 to 5 minutes, or microwave, covered, for 2 to 3 minutes. In a food processor, puree the edamame, tahini, lemon jucie, lemon, garlic, salt, cumin, and coriander until smooth. With the motor running, slowly drizzle in 3 tablespoons of the olive oil and mix until absorbed. Transfer to a small bowl, stir in the parsley and drizzle with remaining oil. Jacques Pepin's Chicken Supremes with Tapenade and Mushroom Sauce Recipe

Serves 4 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each 1 tablespoon/15ml good olive oil Tapenade 3/4-cup/135g mix of pitted olives, black oil-cured olives, Kalamata olives, and green olives 1 small garlic clove, peeled and sliced 2 dried apricot halves, cut into small pieces 1 1/2 tablespoons/22ml drained capers 2 tablespoons/30ml extra virgin olive oil Mushroom Sauce: 4 tablespoon/60g unsalted butter 8 ounces/225g Baby Bella mushrooms, washed and cut into 3/4-inch pieces 1 small onion,  chopped 1/2 teaspoon/2ml salt, plus extra to taste 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus extra to taste 1/2 cup/125ml dry white wine 2 tablespoons/30ml chopped fresh chives or par Put all the tapenade ingredients in the bowl of a food processor, and pulse to make a coarse puree. Easy Pasta Recipe

This is a very basic pasta recipe.  You can use it for any shape you want.  Some of the most delicious food is “peasant “ food, and this is one of them.  Pasta made with egg is more common in the northern regions of Italy, such as Piedmonte, or Emilia Romagna. 1-2 servings  100g/3.5 oz/a little more than 3/4 cup All purpose (Strong) flour, 00 is the best 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon/2ml olive oil If making by hand.  Put flour on the counter top in a mountain shape.  Make a well in the middle. Crack an egg in a bowl and  beat it to break it up. Pour the egg in the center of the well. Pour in the oil.  Slowly with the fork start mixing the egg into the flour by pulling a little bit at a time from the inside. Once mixed (it will be crumbly) bring everything together with your hands and knead for 10 minutes or the dough is smooth and will bounce back when you poke it gently with your fingers.   If using a processor, add the flour, egg and oil.  Pulse on and off or 5-6 tim

Traveling Dinner Parties  or  Supper Club  or  Dinner Club or Sup'clubs or Popups  also known as  Underground Dinner Parties , whatever you choose to call it, the concept of a chef dinner is actually very simple. A dinner party is put in place at people's homes, private venues, or places of business. Those invited are charged a fee to attend to cover the cost of the chef, servers, food, china/rentals and other incidentals.  In our case, the balance of the monies taken in go to the chosen charity or non-profit specified by the host or venue. In many cases, the servers can be volunteers, the china/rentals can either be high-end disposables or the guests bring their own plates and cutlery. Doing this helps with your bottom line and allows more funds for your charity or non-profit. Turmeric Milk Recipe

A classic comforting warm and boldly spiced turmeric milk with a hint of sweetness. INGREDIENTS 2 cups/500ml of homemade almond milk 1 tablespoon/15ml local honey 1 tablespoon coconut oil, optional 1 teaspoon/5ml ground turmeric 1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon small pinch of black pepper and grated ginger (fresh is best) INSTRUCTIONS Simply pour all ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to a light boil, reduce heat and drink warm.
